Weekly Update

 

 

 The excitement of Halloween is certainly in the air! We had a great week and I know the girls loved starting their day with swimming. We have a slight change with the schedule next week. The girls will only swim on Tuesday and Thursday for their last week. 

During our Writing Lab this week, the girls practiced narrative writing. They explained how a witch was able to cast an evil spell on them! They took a before and after picture in photo booth to go along with their writing using photo effects. I will send these home in the next few weeks. I can't wait for you to see! 

We wrapped up our second week of Book Clubs. Book Club teachers will share a monthly update with what they are doing. At the top of my blog, you'll find a Book Club tab. Click on your daughter's Book Club teacher to learn more! 

Friday Folders came home today with a graded Unit 2 math assessment and a few other things. On Monday we begin Unit 3 which covers multiplication, division, prime and composite numbers and more! Unit 3 Home Links will give you a bit of an overview.

Weekly Update

I have enjoyed meeting with so many of you already and look forward to the rest of the conferences next week. Because I have been conducting conferences, this will be a brief blog post.

The main thing to note is that swimming starts Monday! The letter from the PE department is here. Please send extra snack because the girls are going to be extra hungry! Please note, the girls will NOT swim on Halloween.

Look for some new photos in our October picture folder! I took some action shots of the girls playing math basketball while they reviewed for the Unit 2 math assessment. You'll also find a class picture of the girls enjoying some peach smoothies. Ask them to tell you more:)

Week 7

 These girls rocked their chapel yesterday! I'm so proud of their hard work. I know we are all looking forward to getting back to our routine next week. Chapel preparation took a lot of our time this week.

We will begin Book Clubs on Monday. Book Club will meet Monday-Thursday for an hour after lunch. Please check in your daughter's Friday Folder for more information on this if she has not already shown you. 

The girls had fun taking their spelling homework a little further this week. It all started with a background picture that was brought to life. They successfully applied their spelling words in their "Spelling and Me" assignment. I have printed off their writing and am adding some comments before sending them home, so be on the lookout.

Week 6

 Happy LONG weekend!

We had many exciting things going on this week! We started the week eye bombing the Lower School and ended with Blessing of the Animals. We have been working hard to prepare for our class chapel on the 14th. Our chapel will celebrate International Day of the Girl and I look forward to you joining us. 

 

 We used Padlet as a platform for sharing the girls' writing this week. They were tasked with writing from their googly eyed creatures perspective.

  

 We are moving quickly through Unit 2 in math since the girls have a strong understanding of adding and subtracting large numbers. We will go over a few more concepts next week and I will assess the girls shortly after. Mrs. Applewhite taught them a new game this week. Ask your daughter to tell you more about it! 

I was blown away by the group presentations of personalized learning projects. The girls worked hard to research a topic of choice and had fun sharing their findings in a creative way. I snapped pictures of the girls presenting. Here is the link to our classroom photos.
