Weekly Update

We are not lacking holiday spirit in room M02!

Much of next week will be dedicated to preparing for our special Gift Service. The rehearsal and performance schedule is here. I hope you saw the letter from Mrs. Ivens about any extra costume requirements for your daughter's part. She communicated with girls in the choir separately. For any girls in strings, you should have heard from them as well. The letter from Mrs. Ivens is here.

The girls will take their List 7 spelling test on Wednesday as well as an open book Wordly Wise test. I will grade them promptly and send them home on Thursday in their binders. Prefixes and suffixes have been our focus these past few weeks with spelling and Wordly Wise. It's been so fun to watch the girls have these "ah ha" moments as we dissect each word and find common patterns.

The girls worked hard this week on several fun Christmas activities. In math, we worked on problem-solving by starting the 12 Days of EdPuzzles. After Christmas, we will jump ahead to chapter 12, which is our unit on geometry. The girls took their Unit 3 math assessment on Wednesday and they are coming home in their Friday Folders today.

A few other fun projects are also coming home today. Their Branches of Government flap book and a poetry project.

Weekly Update

Our first Wordly Wise Dress-up Day was a huge success! The girls had fun revealing their words!

In math this week, we practiced 2 digit by 3 digit multiplication and long division. These girls are doing SO WELL with both. Those girls that can quickly recite their basic facts are standing out. I've been gushing over how fast they can solve these big numbered problems! Your daughter should continue reviewing all multiplication facts up to 12 every night. Next week we will talk about different strategies to study basic division facts!

The girls were introduced to GEMS this week. See if your daughter can explain what this acronym stands for! Mrs. Applewhite came in to play Order of Operation Bingo with the girls.

The girls started writing their rough drafts for their presidential research project. Our focus this week was organizing research chronologically and grouping sentences together that relate. Next week I will conference with them one on one as we proofread together.

Reminders:

Lower School Gift Service will be 12/16 at 9am at Reveille United Methodist Church-Dismissal immediately following
